Jimmy Fallon lost all credibility with Donald Trump interview (spittle alert)

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - If Jimmy Fallon had any credibility left as a thinking comedian with a point-of-view, he lost the last shred of it Thursday night. Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump appeared on "The Tonight Show" for a few minutes to talk up his campaign, in the midst of one of the mendacious and evasive 24-hour periods of his political career to date.

Yesterday, Trump ended a slimy two-day news cycle by finally admitting that President Barack Obama was born in the United States -- but in the process, re-stoked the controversy, waffled on the topic, and manipulated media coverage to focus on the opening of his new hotel (just hours after he gloated that that same press pool was stranded on the tarmac and therefore couldn't come to his rally).

During this particularly maddening news cycle, Trump stopped by "The Tonight Show" to tape last night's episode. And Fallon -- either unaware or indifferent to the racist overtones of Trump's birtherism or the "reveal" of his medical records on "Dr. Oz" -- chose to fawn all over the candidate. In the episode's metaphorical money shot, Fallon asked Trump if he could muss his orange coiffure. In an acquiescence that felt rehearsed, Trump let him have at it. Trump's combover deflated in long, cotton-candy-like wisps. As Fallon stood to bid him farewell, the candidate nervously patted it back into place.

The media is going scorched earth against it's own.

They're enraged. They were so close to finally getting a permanant electoral majority, so very close! And then Trump had to come along and truth it all up.

The Crooked Hillary supporters - namely the media - HATE Jimmy Fallon because he "humanized" Donald S. Trump in front of millions of viewers at home that might now start re-thinking the mainstream media narrative that Donald Trump is a subhuman who constantly spews hatred. Only it is the other way around, it is always the Crooked Hillary supporters that spew hatred.

Trump hit a grand slam with this Jimmy Fallon appearance. I don't know much about this Jimmy Fallon but I remember seeing him on Saturday Night Live and he was good foil for that Debbie Downer skit.

Jimmy Fallon appears to have talent. The haters that support Crooked Hillary do not have a lot of talent. Maybe Jimmy Fallon has a penchant for hitting the NYC nightclubs after taping his show. I don't blame him one big. Manhattan is full of excellent bars with $20 martinis and $15 margaritas that will set your world all a-spin. I do not begrudge New Yorkers taking advantage of the nightlife that surrounds them. But when taping the show, this Jimmy Fallon is talented, witty and seems to have a winning personality. Unlike the miserable shrews and girly-men that support Crooked Hillary.

I say all the power to Donald S. Trump and this rising star named Jimmy Fallon. Maybe he will be the Johnny Carson of his time.

Those on the Hillary Clinton side in 2008 like Sidney Blumenthal who was told at least one reporter that Obama was born in Kenya and pushed for investigation.

Which is exactly what the Republicans should have done as soon as he declared his candidacy.

Trump in both the original case, and in this case simply put an end to the issue that Leftwingers brought up.

It should be brought back to the front burner in the new administration, as facts will now be allowed to come out.

She has the potential to look good if she didn’t live on a steady diet of lemons and vinegar.

Yes, but wasn’t she the one who brought and handed it to him?

I would have to assume so. There is no way it was a 'surprise' sprung by Fallon. She would never allow it on air if it had been.

She was trying to make fun of the issue to downplay it. She was trying to show she has a sense of humor.

I would again assume this was created/originated by her staff after a focus pull where they were desperate to find a way to shrug this off.
