The average American has a highly distorted liberal-biased view of reality as a result of the entertainment industrys constant propaganda.
Its all Perry Masons fault.
That very popular TV show taught America the lies that the average defendant in a criminal case was innocent and that defense attorneys only cared about the truth.
The reality is that most criminal defendants are guilty of something and defense attorneys are concerned about making money even if that means helping child rapists, drug dealers, and murderers get back on the street.
That doesnt mean that everyone doesnt deserve a fair trial, but by misrepresenting reality, Perry Mason softened Americans up for the liberal policies of the Warren Court that were based on the supposition that the police were constantly framing innocent people for crimes they didnt commit.
Since then police shows have worked relentlessly to brainwash Americans into thinking that the real problems in America are malevolent cops, crooked businessmen, evil doctors, or perverted clergymen, not gang members, career criminals, prostitutes, or drug dealers.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is the natural end state of the liberal medias crusade to portray cops as bad and drug using/dealing gang members as good.

I do mostly federal criminal defense and this can be largely true in a lot of conspiracy cases. A lot of decent people will get hauled in simply because they worked a day to day job somewhere collecting a paycheck while the owners or others were doing a bunch of illegal crap. Does the US Attorney care about the lady with three kids working as a bookkeeper where the owners are running a scam she has no idea about? Hell no. They'll threaten her with 200 years in prison on 15 different counts, force a plea, she'll get 24-36 months and her life will be ruined for eternity--because some hotshot government prosecutor wants to make a name for himself and add a notch to his belt. Yes, it happens.
Well, I just don’t know about all that, I happen to be astoudingly handsome with perfectly chiseled features and the physique of a Mr. America and my character is above reproach, for instance I never exaggerate or display any sort of vanity or self pride. I remember once when I was parachuting into Bosnia under heavy sniper fire and..........
“-although I think FR is largely populated with law abiding folk who wouldn’t even get themselves into situations where they run afoul the law. : )”
I think that that is basically true but FR is also populated with some who fail to recognize that it is literally not possible to be a truly law abiding citizen in the USA of 2016. Everyone breaks the law every day without even being aware of it. I would guess that ninety percent or more of the laws currently in effect should be voided immediately. On top of that I doubt that we have a single member of congress who does not willfully break the law on a regular basis. We have several supreme court justices who are at best qualified to play the part of a supreme court justice in a high school play but never should have even been considered for the actual position. As far as law enforcement is concerned, in my home county it is unimpressive and I am trying to be kind.
Hear, hear! Prosecutors are looking for notches in their belts. To hell with justice.
most law schools teach that truth is relative and hence truth does not exist.
Looks like this thread turned into an “I love Perry Mason!” Thread. (My husband and I watch an episode every night.)
I think the point of the article is very important: that the media/entertainment complex has distorted reality, and that has been extremely detrimental to society.
I wouldn’t blame Perry. I often wonder if the demise of his show was caused by the Miranda warning. No more dramatic courtroom confessions.
