Increases in societal wealth come from only one source - productivity increases.
Any gubermint giveaway program will be rife with fraud. Fraud does not increase productivity.
Just as in subsidizing college expenses, making more money available for child care will result in an increase in price for that service (even before new regulations get mandated).
Taxing productive people to subsidize less productive activities is a net loser (except in the vote buying category).
Remember when unemployment benefits were made taxable in 1992? With the high cutoff for Trump’s new program ($500k for a couple?), some poor schmuck who gets laid off from his $40,000 a year factory job will pay taxes on his unemployment benefits so the $500k couple can get a tax break to help pay for their nanny.
