Did robots help make your pizza? f you ordered it from Silicon Valley's Zume Pizza, the answer is yes. The startup, which began delivery in April, is using intelligent machines to grab a slice of the multibillion-dollar pizza delivery market. Zume is one of a growing number of food-tech firms seeking to disrupt the restaurant industry with software and robots. "We're going to eliminate boring, repetitive, dangerous jobs, and we're going to free up people to do things that are higher value," said co-founder Alex Garden, a former Microsoft manager and president of mobile game maker Zynga Studios.

Sorry to break your Roddenberry fantasy utopia but robotics will be a job killer. People need to have cognitive ability to do higher value jobs and if they don't have that they have zero value in the job market.
They want to seem noble, rather than the what Ayn Rand warned us about.
Finally! A robot put to excellent use!
Making pizza is boring and dangerous? Try interesting and creative plus pride in a good product - if done right.
Not to worry. It’ll create more tech and mechanical jobs to fix robots everytime a pepperoni gets stuck in a gear or a computer chip gets splashed with sauce. Then they’ll need...
Well, cr@p, there’s a @#$^_(&# drone outside my window.
... to rehire the pizza makers to keep up the slack until the robots are fixed.
Put robots to work in the fields cutting $10.00 lettuce.
It’s the end of the world as we know it the day Pizza robots become sentient.
I have a really dumb question. When I buy a frozen pizza, wasn’t it essentially made by machines already? Seems what they are really doing is miniaturizing and customizing the process...but machines have prepared food for a long time.
Watch this YouTube video closely to see how it operates. You may have to watch the video three or four times like I did before you spot the vending machine.
Yeah we don’t want those darn teenagers getting out in the world to earn a little money and learn how to work and be responsible!
I heard a report on the radio yesterday about the farm workers in California now to get paid overtime after 8 hours. It is easy to see that what you propose will come to pass.
Demeaning, soul-killing, slavery-like, horrific work that often gives people PTSD: Pizza Trauma, Sauce Disorder.
I only get trauma after eating several of them at one time.
Well, if the Cooking Channel is telling the truth, people control those machines in factories - every step of the way. Their food factory shows are interesting.
What vending machine?
Ya, most robots don’t look like robots. It’s automation in many forms.
And Skynet, in today’s real world, is called The Cloud.
“We’re going to eliminate boring, repetitive, dangerous jobs, and we’re going to free up people to do things that are higher value.”
Yeah, like resort to blood prostitution (or outright illegal activities) to be able to pay rent because there is now literally nowhere they can get employed. Dear Lord, where are the Luddites when we actually need them?
