Gov. Jerry Brown, who often weekends at a rustic cabin west of Williams, is moving forward with plans to build an off-the-grid home on the family ranch, submitting drawings to Colusa County officials for a one-bedroom house with a large porch, a wood fireplace and a three-inch conduit running to a solar array.

The plans, submitted last week and currently under review, call for a single-story home with and 2,674 square feet of conditioned space. In addition to a single bedroom and one-and-one-half bathrooms, the house will include a large main room with bookcases, a 1,658-square-foot porch, an office and a mud room.

the site will afford the Browns “a pretty incredible view that’s quintessential California landscape: It’s incredibly beautiful but harsh in the same way.”

The quintessential California landscape due to two terms of Brown being governor and his open border policies is miles of stack and pack transit housing, dense ethnic ghettos, homeless camps and packed highways.

He’s going to pollute the air with a wood burning fireplace?

After all he’s done to make California’s energy future secure?

Uh . . . no, come on, you have to know that California liberals are all about “what’s good for thee, but not for me”. The photo in the article shows the site to be a beautiful pristine slice of in the Northern California coast range foothills.

Small home - 2600+ sq ft, on his family’s land. Off the grid. Right.

“The idea of your nice little green grass getting lots of water every day — that’s going to be a thing of the past,” - Jerry Brown

“We’re going to take some things from you for the common good.” Hillary Clinton...

A basic Liberal Tenet.

The reason. Alj or I still is running out of water and energy ( and has terrible traffic jams and generally poor roads, schools, etc) is because jerry and other governors there have built almost no new infrastructure - indeed precious little since Kerry’s daddy was governor in the 1960’s. Result: a horrible. Miserable quality of life — inadequate and often krappy public services. And the highest taxes and highest cost of living in nearly the entire country.

He’ll have to pay his illegal “Fire Tax” each year. That tax was passed by a simple majority and his signature in 2011 just for all the conservatives that live in N. California.

Any tax must be passed by a 2/3 majority but that means nothing to the Dummies and their courts.

The headline description of one bedroom, one soaking tub and a solar array brings to mind something far smaller than they’re actually planning to build. Sounds like a tiny house instead of 2,600 sf.

That picture of the nice green field and large Oaks is deceiving. It's only like that about 2 or 3 months (in a rainy year). the rest of the time it's dead grass city. Hot as hell in the summer, cold and dreary as hell in the winter. There is usually a big fire in the area every year or so.

Well, if his house doesn't burn down, he can waste his filthy lucre at the Cache Creek casino, just south on the back roads.

If there was any remaining doubt, his choice of location proves him the lunatic we all thought him to be.

I hope his plans are approved quickly and he moves there and gets snowed in until 2018. Sorry, town of Williams.

Not quite as large but sounds more or less like what I want to build on our property in Hawaii. Want it totally self contained. With a huge deck and then a few smaller bedroom/bathroom self contained units around the deck for visitors. Actually got the idea from this gal. I don’t want a tree house though. Lol

I was born in Colusa County and my first home was a
hog, cattle, and rice farm a few miles outside of
Williams. The county is completely flat outside of
the western boundary which lies in the Coastal foothills.
I have cousins who own a 2000 acre ranch in that dry,
God forsaken place. The only snow they ever get is a
slight dusting on the very top of the tallest hills
during a few chosen winter storms.......no snow.

There are plenty of rattlesnakes so don’t lose hope,
however.
