The post she was leaning against is called a “bollard.”

It was either that or “anti-truck-bomb-pillar.”

It's a vertical steel or reinforced concrete post set in concrete four feet deep in the earth, with between 3 and 4 feet above ground.
Used to prevent vehicle traffic from getting up onto the sidewalk or hitting a building wall.
You've seen them in front of stores and theaters.
