I for one wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe Crazy Joe was the intended candidate all along.

He has the name recognition.
He gets to pick up where hILLary leaves off.
He gets to counter most everything Trump has run against his opponent, so comes in clean.
Gives the dems a sense of urgency.
Gives the dems a sympathy vote (think Wellstone)
