Lol - I was up at 5:30 and was looking for our new thread for the day. I was going to post something about it being late, but I thought, give poor nikos a break! He’s up at the crack of dawn most days, making sure there’s somewhere for lysie to serve breakfast.
I am home making pies today, so will be tuned in and out all day long.
I’m trying to figure out how this whole electoral college thing works, and why the dems seem to automatically have it in the bag unless a warrior can overcome the odds. Something doesn’t make sense to me, but I don’t completely understand it.
Technically, the EC is state by state allocation of votes for president, with 538 elector votes being cast to decide who will be president. The more populous states have more electors. California and New York are reliably DEM, and California has 55 votes, NY has 29.
I think a better way to view the phenomenon is as urban vs. rural, with an eye on states where urban voters dominate.
What kind of pies are you making?
The EV system is messed up now since the big population states are solidly democrat. Getting more people dependent on the government and concentrating them in big cities gives those states to the liberals. It takes a lot of little conservative rural states to get enough EVs. Sadly, there aren’t enough.
