It’s tough for even law-abiding Americans to buy one of those, what with the $200 transfer tax and all - how would a Norwegian ever hope to see one?

It ain't so tough. Even easier with a CCW to not hafta hassle with the NICS. Just like buying any other long gun if you're not goin the NFA route (that $200 tax stamp and 6 months currently as I understand it) for the fun-but-wasteful full auto version.

Dunno about Norway, not my circus, not my monkeys.
But usually, where there's a will there's a way. d:^)

Yep, even pepper spray is banned in Norway. The police would NEVER issue a pistol license for self defense. You would have to lie and say it was for sport shooting. Just don’t get caught carrying it.
