I used to live 2 blocks west of there on Granville.
Back then (left in 74 - visit once in a blue moon) it was lily white.
Not so much anymore.
Like any area, it could be great and 2 blocks away it could be a “no go” area.

At that time of day, it would have been pretty busy.

These kids also talked about Loyola, which is East Rogers Park - the next area immediately north of Edgewater.
That also used to be lily white and still is for the most part around the University.

At one time, areas a tad north of Loyola University(North Shore up through Evanston) turned Jamaican and was a dicey area.
I don't know what either area is like today.

Heck, even in the 70s there were bums wandering around downtown Cleveland. Looks like Chicago was a nicer place then. (Not surprisingly, I guess)
