To: Mr. Douglas
The greed for power is amazing. Imagine you are in her shoes. You have hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars. You are not in great physical shape, and there is a minority of the world that LOVES you. If it were me, I’d just do a Jimmy Carter. I certainly would not be running for public office, other than maybe as mayor of the small town I live in.

You don't have as many skeletons as she does.

Now, suppose you were sure that the only thing keeping you out of prison, was the level of political "pull" you had, which made you immune from indictment. And that if you ever became "just a private citizen", you would lose that protection.

How desperate would you be to cling to power?

Your point was exactly the “unless” I was thinking as I posted. And I do think it may also be what is going on here. It’s like she is in a video game that just gets harder and harder, and there is no “relaxing on the sidelines”. Once you do the things she has almost certainly done, you are only free as long as your friends have the power.
