The Presidents travel with a chief of protocol when they visit foreign countries. My Aunt was Chief of Protocol for visiting dignataries when she and her husband were in Switzerland under George H. W. and President Clinton. The bow is protocol. Should Trump meet this same leader as President, he would do the same.
