The problem is, I believe, that the home country may not allow the children legal entrance.
If I were in charge, I'd probably want to splash a low-yield warhead cruise missile onto the front lawn of any foreign President (etc.) who would block the kids' return with their parents, but, that's probably a bit too drastic...
