If we knew absolutely NOTHING more, then race, sad to say, would be a heuristic. The new racism is not like the old racism. The new racism is based on facts; the old racism was based on bigotry.
That being said, it is possible to learn to read people — and also possible to not go around cruising for evil, if I can belabor the glaringly obvious. You might get ripped off through abused trust just the same, but are far less likely to get brutally mugged, if you don’t cruise for evil.
And I have known some pretty ghastly bad white people too who also abused my trust and ripped me off. No color has a monopoly on that in my life.
I have seen many examples of young white girls seeking adventure in the drug dealing streets. I have seen several that I knew personally come to a bad end. It is as you say, they chased a lifestyle that had a high probability of ending badly and quickly.
There is a forbidden Taboo attraction for a lot of white girls between themselves and black members of the street culture. It is some sort of "thrill" that pulls at them. Women are often attracted to "bad boys", and how much more forbidden can you get than a violent black drug dealer?
Again, i've seen many girls jump into this life. I used to have several black drug dealer friends, and we've spent hours talking about street culture, and women. (They have since moved away, and last I heard, one of them has had a stroke.)
Some of them are quite intelligent and very philosophical. People would be surprised.

The old racism was based on whites fears of black behavior in general which was ALWAYS problematic compared to whites especially that fear was exaggerated in places like the Mississippi delta where whites were outnumbered at times 4-5/1
Not to say some folks were not bigoted (like its so all important when the gators are running over the bank now and racism is the drain clog....I mean really?) but the old racism was grounded precisely in the apprehension of the eventualities we now live with daily and try to excuse and explain away
Which was based on how the whites in power observed how blacks acted in general in their own communities.....crime and illegitimacy in particular and how it on occasion also touched the white community
It is so much worse today but our response is black lives matter and income inequality rather than admitting black culture worldwide lags and is the least governable and most violent on the planet
And don’t get me started their disproportionate negative influence of late on popular culture from movies to music to sports ....especially the last two

My granddad and father who were both pro civil rights and refused to join the Citizens Council or The State Sovereignty Commission had second thoughts late in life seeing how it all went off the rails.....and it’s 10 times as bad now
White freepers outside bad Yankee areas like Detroit or Cleveland or the Deep South simply don’t get it.....or don’t want to.....it doesn’t jibe with good works too well....admittedly
