He died.

The next day, a bystander was killed in the retaliation.

Thank you for posting that update. I have been trying to argue that a Brazilian cop, working the Olympics, making one wrong turn (in an unfamiliar area), and dying in a hail of bullets is a bigger story than a cheap poster—reputedly already damaged—getting defaced.

To no avail. The death of the Brazilian cop makes Brazil look bad—can’t have that. The cheap poster incident makes Lochte look bad—so we’ll spend ALL our time on that.
