They will not be deported to re-enter.
That is not what he promised, or what we wanted.
I agree. Trump hasn’t figured out yet that by doing this millions of illegals will self-deport. Someone needs to explain this to him.
Did you create this piece or is it from Another source. If from another source, where is the link?
These people have learned to live in an underground economy.
Do you think they will report all their income?
When they are registered, they will continue to work like this, will report only a portion of their income, and will receive...
EARNED INCOME TAX CREDITS
What back taxes they do pay, they will pay with your hard earned tax dollars.
Is it your perception they will be paying taxes? NO! They will be getting EITC until the day they die.
Hopefully, but: he’s still a businessman, as such sensitive to wage rates and labor markets, as in the hotel business...
Do you believe that Trump knowingly has illegal immigrants working for any of his companies?
Not knowingly. Are there some? Is ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ by site management (as widely occurs) possible? Is he strict on legal workers and monitoring of same? Is/was he strict for his contractors’ and sub-contractors’ workers? You tell me...
Amnesty sure wouldn’t hurt hotel or construction businesses any.
He’s human, of sinful nature by birth, as we all are. Follow the money; he has a lot. Always always always follow the money. As Reagan said, trust but verify. When Trump proves that’s truly not a factor in his decisions and deal-making, awesome and halleluiah!
Will you flame me for saying this here? Seems very rational to me. We’ve been burned by too many, I just won’t blindly jump on any train and start drinking; when I’m sure I’m on the right train, I’ll buy the lounge car a round.
it’s mine, I created it.
I never said I knew anything about immigration. Nor do I propose that any illegality goes unpunished. DHS will do a comprehensive background check and determine what crimes/offenses have been committed.
Deportation means leaving the states. If you visit a foreign embassy or consulate you are on that country’s sovereign soil. Technically, that is leaving the country.
And they have....
Under the law, if you are here illegally, you are subject to deportation.
The way the visa process works, whether it is for a temporary visa (tourist, work, study) or a permanent immigrant visa, the application takes place in an AMERICAN EMBASSY OR CONSULATE, not in the host country's embassy in the US. We decide who comes into this country, not the country of origin.
More nonsense. Is an Embassy on Foreign Soil the Sovereign Territory of the Host Country or the Embassys Country?
Cute little trick there. : (
The Embassy’s country.
That’s true. But here’s one way it might work, there are others:
1. The self-identified illegal immigrant or Visa overstay reports his/her status to Trump’s DHS.
2. If the DHS background check finds that the party does not meet its criteria they are deported.
3. However, if the he DHS finds that the party has something to offer the United States in terms of skills, education, work history, etc., they will be directed to return to their country of origin via the nearest embassy or consulate.
4. Once inside the embassy or consulate (in DC or a major immigrant population center, in a hotel or rented office space) they are technically on their country’s sovereign territory.
5. The United States will establish temporary consulates too, right next door to the foreign embassy/consulate or in the next hotel room or in a trailer parked at the curb. The immigrant who has previously been cleared by DHS then requests entry.
5. The United States will establish temporary consulates too, right next door to the foreign embassy/consulate or in the next hotel room or in a trailer parked at the curb. The immigrant who has previously been cleared by DHS then requests entry.
Pure sophistry.
Technically that is correct. But I’m sure that two like-minded signatories of the Vienna Convention (say Mexico and the US) could easily agree on a methodology by which Mexican citizens living in the US could be deemed as having left US “soil” once they step inside their Embassy or Consulate.
