Hannity was PUSHING to get him to make accommodations for nice IA’s already here. Then they did the hand-raising activity and the majority of feel goods supported the notion. Very bad. There are GAZILLIONS of them here people!!! You are giving away your kid’s country.
Those people in the audience were Trump supporters - and 90% seemed to want to accommodate, at least on some level, the illegals already here. I was very surprised to see that.
There is so much that can be done to make our country a lot less appealing to gate crashers - and I think that would be the most effective way to handle the bulk of the problem. But Americans are largely somewhat sympathetic to these people already here. I am not. I want every last one dragged out of this country kicking and crying.
That being said ...
I won’t get my way though, and I am not going to blame that on Trump. Even if he were made Supreme Emperor he would not have that kind of power. HOWEVER, Trump is a problem solver, and he certainly knows of ways to get many to self-deport without turning this into another Elian Gonzalez fiasco.
After the open border policies of both parties for decades it will take a long while and a deft touch to get things going in the right direction. Trump wants to do that - NO ONE ELSE DOES. He wants to be a bit compassionate - I get that. But the man is no fool, nor is he a bleeding heart.
He is American first, and fully.
