And when I go back to Western Ma and talk to my retired Fireman Uncle, and the small businessmen I know...

IIRC the last time the GOP nominee carried MA was in 1980.I'm wondering if the GOP nominee carried a single one of the states counties in '12...or '08...or '04....or '00

Do you catch my drift?

Don't disagree it is a slog, but this time we have a chance, DJT is different enough to get crossovers of all stripes, lets not wish it away....

Not true. Reagan won Massachusetts in 1984 as well.

Also, in 1988, I distinctly remember George Bush campaigning in Massachusetts in the middle of September. He took a tour of Boston Harbor and attacked Mike Dukakis for how dirty the harbor was. (Dukakis was governor at the time.)

Dukakis did end up carrying his home state but it was only by about 200,000 votes - or six percentage points. A lot closer than it should have been given this was Dukakis' home state.

I give Bush a lot of credit for competing on Dukakis' home territory and I'm sure it helped him in neighboring New England states that he (Bush) mostly won.

“the last time the GOP nominee carried MA was in 1980.”

And the country seems to be in a similar place economically and emotionally. I don’t rule out another Reagan-like outcome for MA.
