There really is a lot of this going on.
We’ve gotten calls from them before.
I ignore them.
For that matter, I’ve decided against answering the phone at all unless I recognize the number or caller from caller ID.
If I don’t know you, I don’t want to talk to you.
I had the IRS scammers call a few times over the last year, they use the same telephone number. Question: Why are they allowed to get away with it? My brother has an explanation; our corrupt government, admirers scammers such as themselves...
The “real” best thing is to always see “who” is calling on the display on your phone before you answer. We’re about to give up our wireline phone because you have to pay AT&T to block calls or you have to buy a piece of equipment to do it. On smart phones you can simply block them yourself. I have more than 100 in my current iPhone. And any call that comes in with no caller ID goes away immediately. But the worst part of it is AT&T gladly gives these telemarketers the lines they use to assault us. Neat trick, give out the lines, then charge your other customers a monthly fee to stop the calls. AT&T is the biggest $hit company in the world!
My land line is kept on mute. I never answer it. Most are robocalls but one of those IRS fakers actually left a voicemail.
The Chinese do the Tax scam in a ton of countries and they ask for iTunes cards
If you want to answer the phone ,make sure you have a very loud sports whistle ,ouch
I got 3 last week; one of them actually made me laugh; the person was screaming at me .. “... they’re lying to you, they’re lying to you ...”
You’re right .. JUST HANG UP ..!!!!
We get these a couple of times a week. We never pick up. Regrettably they are always robocalls. I’m waiting for one of these turds to be a human so I can pick it up and tell them to come and take what they want. If they think it’s worth their life.
I also think it would be humorous if we did a coordinated FReep calling these numbers back several hundred times an hour for a couple of days..
Been getting these bogus call for several years. Still waiting for the public warning from the Torrance PD.
Should be common sense if you ask me. Never do business over the phone unless I initiate it by placing the call.
Best come back, Eff lois Lerner!
Then hang up.
These fools have called me many times over the last 3 or 4 years. We let the answering machine screen calls for us, so we have never answered. Always a foreign accented voice, and sometimes they even leave a non-US call back number. I know there are people caught by this, and I don’t want to tar them, but for goodness sakes, THINK, people!
IRS even has a warning about this on their website:
These smart-asses marketers know that's the time of day that someone is home. They also know that there's many retirees and aging seniors in Florida who are considered soft marks for insurance calls, health calls, etc.
Being on the National Do-Not-Call Registry doesn't mean a thing anymore.
I see no end in sight to these calls, I see only an increase.
WHO'S going to stop these arrogant vultures from intruding into our own homes with impunity?
The phone companies, the state legislatures and/or commissions, the feds...???
Hardly.
Our privacy counts for nothing with the powers-that-be who undoubtedly are in the thrall of telemarketing lobbyists.
I follow the money-trail in EVERYTHING these days !

I got one of those, they left a message on my machine. I called them back to make sure they had my number. When they answered I whispered a few seconds to give them time to turn up volume on the ear piece, then blew a survival whistle into the phone as loud and as long as I could. Funny, they have not called back yet.
I got so sick of these people calling I would answer as Agent Mulder of the FBI.... communicate that they the line was being traced and if they were to hang up it would be a violation of FBI and Interpol laws.
After making the announcement I would let them know that Agent Scully would call them back after the trace was completed and that it would be good for them at this time to supply their IRS employee number.
This usually ended in a hang-up or vile language followed by a hang-up.
In some cases... the call became so numerous I would call back the number... and if their was a answering machine... I would play meatloaf music into it until the mailbox became full... I would occasionally pick up the phone and interject how much I was enjoying the music myself... that usually led to me being taken off their call chain....
Good Times.....
I keep getting guys named “Chuck” or “Dave” who are obviously from somewhere in India or Bangladesh calling about my Windows having a problem. Hey, they open, they close; what’s the problem?
