Before going to NYC Bratton was Police Commissioner in Boston,appointed by Mayor Thomas “Mumbles” Menino,a *truly* illiterate man (the nickname was well earned).While in Boston Bratton got the reputation as a guy who would pee down your back and tell you it was raining.

Don’t forget that Bratton was NY Commish under Mayor Giuliani.....got dumped, then came back to NY under DeBlasio.
Bratton got under Giuliani’s skin b/c the Comish was very popular....on NY’s elite A-list.
Post-911 Rudy was riding high but felt Bratton was stealing his thunder, and dumped him.
They despise each other.
