I live in a state in which pot was recently legalized. MJ use has skyrocketed, everyone and their felon uncle are now growing, albeit most illegally with no permits and there is so little LE and the county gov is corrupt, no one does anything. DH is a FF/first responder and crimes related to drug use and the “business” have skyrocketed.

I have done good amount of online research about mj and it is dangerous. Smoking it reduces the ability to think rationally, lowers IQ at least while intoxicated and when smoked longterm, permanantly. Sensory perception of course while intoxicated is way off as well as judgement of any kind.

I have “debated” (can’t really be called that) with pro-dopers on FR for years and elsewhere, and they are unable to discuss in any rational manner.

I also used to smoke mj decades ago before the THC content went sky high (thankfully only for about 2 1/2 years max) and so I know personally what it does to the consciousness, even with the low potency weed back then. I have also known people who smoke habitually, and what it does to them.

I hate it.

“I hate it.”

Then don’t use it. No one will ever force you to. It’s not for everyone.

Smoking it reduces the ability to think rationally,

Oh, I can see that right here on this thread. Suddenly, smoking weed is homage to the Founding Fathers and a symbol of what both Thomas Jefferson and Jesus Christ wanted for mankind. And the slightest disapproval makes them flip out like a feminist sociologist who's just spotted a micro-aggression.

Yes, I live in a Potopia also.

I see a lot of bilge passed off as serious discussion on pot. No defense of its use as much as attempted justification.

The Libertarian in me says people should be entitled to act stupidly. The human inside me recognizes no problem is made better by adding pot to it...and that children deserve parents not stoned. The rational person in me says laissez faire only works if they alone bear the consequences of their stupidity. And drugs in general and pot use in particular is anything but a victimless crime.
