I don’t believe Free Republic can impose a fee based on how the LLC is setup nor can it sell anything considered a product or service. Relies completely on voluntary donations.
I donate $35/mo that comes out automatically and I mostly ignore the near constant Freepathons. Wish they weren’t necessary but if each regular Freeper would donate just $5 a month and consider it a subscription fee for the best political discussion forum on the Internet, I think the Freepathons would be much shorter, if they were necessary at all.
I believe we only need 6,000 Freepers giving $5 a month and all this would go away. Or 3,000 giving $10 a month.
Couple of things. As regards the Freepathon, we’ve been having them for years but as time goes by I realize how much I like FreeRepublic, quarterly freepathons notwithstanding.
First, you never get a virus from FreeRepublic! Now I know that’s not so big a deal but as time goes by it gets more and more important. Also, well there’s that noadvertising thing and it’s worth a couple bucks quarterly for me to avoid that. Cause online advertisers are a real pain, pouring as much as they can into an ad and out there somebody will find a way to make that ad transmit a virus to a computer.
Finally, since the subject came up, how about , like Facebook, we get a way to edit and/or delete our own posts? No big deal really but Lord I hate to go running after the beleaguered Admins when I post something twice.
Now....about these polls. No less than Dana Perino, who I do NOT like, was on Fox yesterday ranting and raving over the polls and how we are all fooling ourselves if we think them rigged or wrong.
“Trump has a big hole to dig out of,” she said, to that effect.
Well I never liked the meek nothing-burger Bush lover before and while she might be right about the polls-which she is NOT-she seems to be a bit too happy when polls show Donald down.
I DID hear, to my surprise, Newt Gingrich yesterday on some Fox show. He said, I paraphrase, that we can hold him to this prediction that Trump will win this election. He might not win in a landslide but no way will Hillary win this election.
I was fascinated. Nice for him to take a stand and I dunno, maybe if the other Trump haters would just cool it for God’s sake, we can win this.
I agree: relics of the past and very tiring, too. I’m more and more drained ... wiped out, with each passing one and of course, it doesn’t help that they now take in excess of 2 months ... God bless you, “neat guy.”
