For many establishment congressmen of both parties, being elected isnt a chance to make a difference in the political life of America. Its a sinecure that allows them to become fat off of special interest money and speaking fees.
Americans of all stripes are frustrated with this attitude, which is part of the reason why anti-establishment Donald Trump got the Republican nomination.
Now, Trump has made a huge move to end congressional sinecures and the politicos who occupy them. According to Associated Press, Trump told an audience in North Carolina that he would look into term limits for Congress if he were elected president.
Trump made the remarks Thursday afternoon while speaking before a group of local law enforcement officers in the swing state. A questioner asked the Republican nominee about it and said he wanted to get these bums out.
Trump gave him plenty to look forward to. He told the audience member that, (w)ere going to take a very serious look at establishing term limits.
While it would take a constitutional amendment to accomplish, make no mistake establishing term limits would arguably be the biggest accomplishment of any president since World War II.
Part of the mess were in as a country especially in terms of debt, deficit and political pusillanimity has to do with establishment politicians who hang around Washington for half a century or more.
One rarely (if ever) does this because theyre fighting for their constituents. Theyre addicted to power and all that comes with it. This power, unfortunately, is often wielded at our expense, particularly when it comes to government spending.

OK, you blew your cover.

You bet. And one not need be a professional profile expert to quickly spot these frauds.
All this ranting about bureaucrats is ridiculous! I understand the sentiment. However the bureaucracy didn’t spring into existence “ex nihilo”! Congress - the legislature created them because we “the public” stampeded them into solving “something” that 9 times out of 10 is a non-problem. For example roughly in the mid-1970s Congress pushed a lot “legal interpretation & rule implementing” down to the federal agencies because they couldn’t be bothered with writing clarity (or even accuracy!) into legislation. It’s particularly true in environmental legislation. Of course this creates a big “pay day” for lawyers. (Aren’t almost all “congresscritters” & state legislators lawyers? Helping their legal friends & pals as well as themselves in the future!) All the bureaucrats do is implement the legally “required” stupidity. There are other examples on other issues but to cover them over and above this summarized example would require me to write a “War and Peace” FR commentary.
You could zero out the federal payroll and we still go over the financial cliff due exponentially exploding entitlements. Compared to that the federal bureaucracy is a non-problem.
I have NO clue what you mean. I have NO cover. I just know what it means to be conservative, and I can discern when one is only faking it. IF you want to communicate speak clearly and stop playing holier than thou... remember what our 'righteous acts' are considered?
Simony is rampant, and those holier than thou types forget their con is only limited to flesh beings.. Even though they use the name of God, or in Ted Cruz's case coming in the 'face' of God. gag...
It was one big insider con-job. A con-servative con-job if you will.
Trump has exposed the Wall Street golden bull worshipers... Open borders living in gated communities... mega donors, that we the people pay back via these lying bastards pretending to be ‘tea party’ conservatives. I have no doubt both houses are trembling in fear of HOW in a Trump presidency they will be able to pay back their mega donors via legislation. Presently, I cannot despise the in your face progressive more than the con artists that use the word ‘conservative’ as their means of seducing we the people... Lying Ryan and his blank check book is one that needs to be out milking cows... And the lying Ted Cruz needs a recognizing from our Lord and Savior for using HIS Holy Name as his vehicle to prosperity and power.
Yep.
One big epic con-job.
Term limits are not the problem, the problem is people keep voting those pimps back in the office.
Don’t open the door to alter our Constitution.
That would save the government some significant money. Think about all the official government documents that presently must be printed in all different languages. Print official documents in only English, no more need for translators. Also, IVRs (phone systems) would no longer require callers to ‘Press 2 for Spanish’, or ‘Press 3 for (insert foreign language here)’.
To be truly reformative, the scope would have to be broadened to eliminate the multi-quadrillion airwatts of suction being generated by the L.I.F.E.R. R.E.M.F. bureaucratic termites who infest the thing General/President tried to warn us about:

I suppose having a fine statesman give way to a rotten statesman with evil intentions due to term limits would be an excellent choice. I am being sarcastic. Term limits is a fool-hardy response to an irresponsible and lazy electorate that won’t do their due diligence to keep the right people in power.
A Donald must-do----no more politician foundations. The Clintoons had 8 years in the Oral Office to make a difference.....nobody asked Bill Clinton to globe-trot the world to save every living thing he could raise money on.
Politicians are chomping at the bit b/c the Clintons get rich quick using a foundation.
=======================================
Obama already has two get rich quick foundations that we know of....mission statements sounding suspiciously like the Clintons.

As President Obama has said, the change we seek will take longer than one term or one presidency. Real changebig changetakes many years and requires each generation to embrace the obligations and opportunities that come with the title of Citizen.
The Obama Foundation will inspire the next generation of young leaders all over the world. It will convene the brightest minds with the newest ideas from across the political spectrum and draw strength from the rich diversity and vitality of Chicago, the city where the President and First Lady started a family and raised their daughters.
But most of all, the Foundation will ask all of us to take on big challenges and to believe that we can meet them together. Our history and President Obamas legacy give us hope that even the most difficult change is possible, and the Foundation exists to carry on that great, unfinished project of renewal and global progress.
form visitors about our civic rights and responsibilities and inspire citizens to get engaged.
Empower individuals who are leading change around the world, and help develop new ways to enable all citizens to take action.
Connect people from different communities and disciplines to create new approaches to solving our biggest challenges.
Translate new ideas into concrete actions that will have a measurable impact, enlisting partners across all sectors to scale what works.
NO MORE POLITICIAN FOUNDATIONS
This and gutting the tax code would be a huge step in cleaning up the corruption of Washington and turning this thing around.
Amen.
If you aspire to vote in the leading nation of the Anglosphere, you need to know its language!
Is that picture real? If so, fantastic! :) Very happy to see young black men on the Trump train. :)
Perhaps his message is getting through, about how the Dems have used them, despite the MSM.
I agree. Great idea. Let’s hope someone has the internal fortitude to make that happen.
Oh I think that it is.....and I’ve seen others like it....I think the younger men of society see Trump as “modern and upbeat” as opposed to the old hag Hillary and her like.....plus they’re getting a message they need to hear and want to believe.....
Just move elections to coincide with tax day - instant term limits
More like earned the enmity of every Congressman with that epic, but empty, promise. He'll never get the amendment through.
