There is no way a person should be glad at what is happening to the Venezuelan people

Is this the conservative version of ‘dont let a good crisis go to waste’

if a person is perversely glad, they should keep to themselves...especially if they want to be distinguished from liberals who are always glad when people suffer

We disagree. When my father had cancer, I was glad when he found out what was wrong and went in for surgery and chemo. The cancer was bad news, but recognizing it and getting rid of it was a good thing given that the cancer was there - a nightmare that was better than waiting even longer before addressing the problem. With Venezuela's socialism, the problem was also already there and the misery was inevitable. The longer the fix is delayed, the worse it will be, so going through the economic crisis now, miserable as that is, will be better than the alternative.
