The manoeuvres are part of what the Russian strongman sees as the fortification of a new front line with NATO By COREY CHARLTON

40,000 Russian troops are massing on the countrys border with Ukraine prompting fears of a new military invasion.
The Pentagon has identified eight staging areas dotted along the border, suggesting Russian strongman Vladimir Putin is preparing for new incursions.
Fears are growing that Russia is planning new excursions into neighbouring Ukraine
Among the units deployed to the area are armoured vehicles, tanks and fighter jets.
Navy Captain Danny Hernandez told the Washington Free Beacon that the exercises were being closely monitored.
He said: We are extremely concerned about the increasing tensions near the administrative boundary between Crimea and the rest of Ukraine.
We urge both sides to avoid provocative steps or rhetoric that could escalate the situation.
Officials told the publication similar movements were seen before Vladimir Putin carried out his deceptive annexation of the Crimea.
Such manoeuvres have reduced the warning time available to the US if he decides to launch another attack.

Congrats on posting Russian History by Russians.
Cursory.
and yes you are advocating for war and takeover of a sovereign nation.
Kind of a scumbag thing to do, don’t you think?
"You know what the Ukraine is? It's a sitting duck. A road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak. It's feeble. I think it's time to put the hurt on the Ukraine."
I’m a lawyer and, trust me, I know good bull sheet.
That’s not even good BS, Tovarich.
You have a rogue admin who keeps knocking my sing-in off the forum because he doesn't like what I have to say.
And that's mostly because his positions are indefensible otherwise.
I contribute and I've been here since 1998.
Please correct this person.
Of course an astute student of history such as yourself would know that.
Did Congress ratify that memorandum as a treaty? I am guessing no. I do not think we have any business being there. My son is there now training Ukranians. We do not have enough people/stuff there to defend them and I am not too happy about that.
I fought the Cold War.
While you were in college or smoking dope, or both.
Then you have the temerity to call me by a Russian name.
You's just full of sh!t because you don't have an argument to support your emotions...just like a little girl.
I am not ADVOCATING Russia take over a sovereign country...as if anybody ever believed Ukraine was a sovereign country outside Russia (another dimwit point for you).
There is only one country referred to as the Prison of Nations. I’ll buy you clue: it isn’t Ukraine or any of Russia’s neighbors.
More precisely, someone who has been on FR since ‘98, and doesn’t know what a Putinista is.
Tin Pot Czar Putin can’t wait to hop into the sack with Death ot America Iran. Meanwhile, our local Putinistas fall over themselves excusing the KGB filth running Russia. Pure comedy. LOL.
It was an agreement between Russia / Ukraine and US. The Clintons did not uphold it. Congrats you’re on their side.
But you’ve been here since 1998, so there.
Ukraine is an independent country being attacked by Russia. Clinton and Obama refuse to help. Congrats you’re on their side.
But you’ve been here since 1998, so there.
So, what else you got?
Well, you posted the thread, thus inviting comments.
We’ve gone around in circles on Ukraine for a couple years here. Putin’s fan boys swore up and down it wasn’t Russian soldiers invading Crimea. Then Putin handed out the medals. I never got an apology for that one. Now they don’t what a Putinist is? LOL.
Nobody has upheld this BS agreement, not even Ukraine.
Congrats you're on the side of the Ukrainian government.
Ukraine is an independent country only in your dream, delusional dreams at that.
If Russia were to seal the border, allow no goods in or out with Russia, Ukraine would revert to it's historical status as a total basket case.
But idiots don't care. They would undertake existential war with Russia to prevent them from exercising legitimate interests. Nukes and all.
Come on, man.
It’s hard to keep up with all the Kremlin talking points.
The argument appears to have shifted: now, Ukraine was not a sovereign country, and is the home of the Russian Orthodox Church. As if that means something.
I expected those comments to be rational arguments for or against intervention.
Hey man, I’m all for starting World War 3 to protect a dipshit little country that no one cares about.
...well, at least some people here are into that.
The dead-ender Cruz people just can’t help themselves.
