Can I give you a fun suggestion? Do watch Charlie Chan at Treasure Island (it is considered the best Chan). It stars Sidney Toler as Chan, Victor Sen Yun as Jimmy Chan. Mr. Sen Yun would go on to play Hop Sing on Bonanza. Ceaser Romero is also in the movie.
As for Abbott and Costello, I’d recommend, Meet Frankenstein. Bella Legosi is in this one along with Glenn Strange (bartender Sam in Gunsmoke) and Lon Chaney Jr. I read somewhere once that Legosi was a morphine addict and this was the last film he made where his performance was considered good.
