The aunder and Dalton minima were both accompanied by famine. It is arguable that the French Revolution was due to the Maunder Minimum. The French peasantry really was starving.

Yes and they were ice skating on the Thames in Britain as it froze over. That’s also why it was so cold at Valley Forge.

The Irish Potato Famine was also the result of global cooling. Potatoes were more suited to cooler summers than the grain crops it replaced. People in Ireland kept from starving by switching over. But because the potatoes grown were almost always the same variety, they all were vulnerable to the same disease.
