1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.
I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?
If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.
Exactly right.
Think about the stats I gave. His constitutents are typically commmuting to good-paying jobs in the Milwaukee area, living in nice suburban homes, and doing just fine.
A man who has the power of Speaker of the House will make sure no refugees settle in these affluent suburbs. Take Brookfield, in Waukesha County for example:
Brookfield Waukesha County
Avg. Net Worth: $351,874
Average Household Income: $126,175
Median Disposable Income: $67,839
Average Home Value: $335,602
Population: 22,043
Number of Households: 8,712
They will be just fine with Ryan.
Ryan has learned from Cantor's errors and has run zero ads that mention Nehlen. The ads are about Cantor and his agenda and his accomplishments and he was not in Washington this morning. Also, Ryan has not mentioned Nehlen in any speech. This is one reason why Nehlen is not as well known as was Bratt's on election morning.
8pm. Checkin to see if there is any news yet...

slow loss of mind....eating two cookies. watching the clock.....come on Nehlen.
Can’t imagine anyone getting to excited about going to vote for Ryan. I keep the faith that Trump winning Ryan’s home county against Cruz will carry the day.
C’mon Nehlen
Polls close at 8 p.m. Central time.
Big difference in acting conservative and being conservative. His flexible values pretty much cancelled his true conservative chit with me.
I have NO FAITH that voters will do the right thing and kick this guy out. I hope I am wrong as I feel very sad as to the way our country is headed. Ryan is just a part of it....
The type of Dem’s in that district would be far worse than Ryan. The Dem’s in this stare are all former hippies who just want socialism. Despite all the Ryan haters here, he’s a damn sight better than any Wisconsin lefty. It’s just like all the Ron Johnson haters, Russ Feingold, when he was in the senate, was the most liberal senator in the senate. This is a former blue star or a purple state at best and everyone wants pure conservatives to be elected. It’s just not in the cards. In fact, I’m pretty damn happy with Scott Walker as our governor compared to what we had in the past.
OH. They still have 15 minutes. Over here across the lake it is quarter to 9.

No the cheeseheads have a site. See my previous post.
I posted this on the WI board.
Wife and I went thru the doors just before closing here in the Commie stronghold of S.E. Missconsin, one other person in there and a dozen ladies sitting around doing nothing.
Sick of the bailout king Ryno, now Turn coat and Republicrat.
A very conservative friend who lives in Waukehsa County says he and his wife just voted for Ryan. They believe he represents their district well, is open to isuses and concerns (they’ve received his help on one), and that Nehlen “seems to be a nutbag”. Also, that replacing someone like Ryan with a new guy meanse your state loses all the influence and pull he’d built up over the past 18 years.
please don’t be offended, Wisconsonite. :-)
Just a healthy rivalry thing...even if you guys did try to rename Lake Michigan.
Blech.
That was the argument for Harry Reid here in Nevada for many years.
If your problem with Ryan is the influence he wields as Speaker of the House, don’t blame the voters of CD 1 for that. They see him as a good congressman and if his peers thought so highly of him they chose him as Speaker, that just confirms their belief.
