John McCain WAS an American hero and was deserving of resepct but that time has long past. He has been a crooked US Senator since 1987 so any respect he earned for his military service has been erased by his continued betrayal of the ideals that make this country great.
Past glory does not forgive present sin....
His past is not as glorious as he portrayed to the public. Americans are forgiving people. He did not have to live his life as a deceiver.
