He won't do that. The Ryan/Nehlan fight is now in the people's hands. Trump has to ride whatever wave the people give him.

No, because then he winds up hitching his wagon to Nehlen's star. Also, Trump needs ammunition left in his weapon. The job is to win, NOT to massage anybody's ego. Trump may make it look like he's massaging egos, but that is a negotiating tactic in his case.

I suspect that when Trump said “I’m not there yet,” this event was to be the litmus test for a Trump endorsement of Ryan. No Ryan at the event, no endorsement.
