Khan is no different than Sandra Fluke.

That’s a great point. Also Cindy Sheehan.
Here’s the very effective strategy....
1) Dems find a sympathetic figure to represent one of their interest groups (abortion, anti-war, pro-muslim, illegal immigration, or whatever).
2) They use this sympathetic figure as bait to set the trap for the GOP or conservative target.
3) A democrat operative posing as a journalist opens the trap on a major DNC “news” show (Stephanapolis, Chris Matthews, etc). GOP or conservative target takes the bait and answers the question “What is your response to...”
4) For the next 3-5 days virtually the entire media go on the attack, try to get the target to “clarify” and use the clarifications to further amplify the “firestorm”. Dems demand that GOP leaders condemn the “inflamatory” remarks. All the other news buried, especially if it’s negative about the dems ($400 million ransom to Iran, etc).
5) Within a few days, a few random bloggers on FreeRepublic or other conservative site dig up facts about the sympathetic figure that completely undercuts their original remarks. But by then it’s too late the damage has been done and the media has moved on to the next fake meme.
Works every time!
It’s the same damn MO. And Trump will learn - this is his first rodeo with this bunch.
Meanwhile, the pearl-clutchers fall on their fainting couches and worry about him. [rolls eyes]
It’s like sending out picadors in a bull fight to enrage the bull. But what isn’t expected is for the bull to gore thr picadors and the announcers. Trump has done that to Khan. Maybe the result will be fewer volunteers for the slaughter and we can turn to issues.
What they missed is that Trump as a negotiator is asking what is up that this Khan fellow would subject himself to the onslaught. As we discovered there was a lot on the table for this Khan.
