Former President George W. Bush swiped indirectly at Donald Trump's "America first" foreign policy philosophy at a fundraising event Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Without specifically naming the Republican nominee, Bush criticized recent trends toward "isolationism, nativism and protectionism" in a discussion with approximately 400 guests. Bush made the disapproving comments at a private fundraiser in Cincinnati for Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, which raised $1 million in one day, according to a Portman spokesperson.

Texas will make that carpet bagger, Little P Bush unemployed.

Then we will salt the earth and let none ever let another grow here again.

I expected this little bumbling twerpish twit to chime in to join the other assorted RINOs.

He and his father led us to war with Iraq needlessly. What a waste in removing Saddam Hussein.

He was the glue that held the middle east together. When in power, the Jews and Christians could sleep at night. The good thing was that the biggest enemy of Iran was removed.

You gave us Obama.

His father gave up Bill Clinton. George W. let Hillary skate on all sorts of corruption, not to mention theft of public property from the White House.

The two Bushes were total disasters as president. It was both of them who are responsible for the overthrow of Saddam, the destruction of Iraq and hence, the ability of Iran to rise in power.

Bush, Clinton, Bush2, then Obama, and look at the mess of our once great nation after those four disasters.

It's quite telling that Bush kept silent politically during Obama's Presidency, no matter how egregious Obama's proposed domestic and foreign policies happened to be, but now he's more than happy to interrupt his watercolor dog paintings to attack Trump.

The uniparty knows who and what the real threats to their stranglehold on the American political system are.

Being lectured on how to conduct foreign policy by George W. Bush is like being lectured on how to steer a ship in icy waters by Captain Edward Smith.

w bashes Trump but never once stood up for himself during 8 years of being President? Why should we listen to you now? Go home w.

Yeah, and sit idly by for the succeeding eight years while Obama, the enemy within, puts his fundamental transformation up America's behind and destroys the Middle East, but when our side has someone who can reverse the damage, that's when W opens his mouth.

...Brilliant foreign policy of both Bush and his comrade 0bama of ousting Arab strongmen who had a handle on their jihadi lunatics, thereby creating power vacuums...

Funny how that worked out, eh? BOTH made moves that knowingly destabilized the ME and strengthened Muslim jihadism.

As Dubya came out today out of no where and criticized Trump (but notice NEVER Hillary or 0bama), a few thoughts occurred to me:

BOTH Bush AND 0bama agreed on that very same Middle East policy, as well as the mantra that "Islam is the "Religion of Peace."

More coincidence: Bush is and was NOT an "America Firster". Same as 0bama. How do we know?:

WSJ excerpt:

Without naming Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, former President George W. Bush delivered an incisive critique of his policies of “isolationism, nativism and protectionism” at a private fundraiser in Cincinnati on Tuesday for Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, according to four people who attended.

Moreover, based on his close relationship with the Saudi Family, his redacting of the pages of the 911 Report that implicated the Saudis involvement in the events of 9/11 (recently divulged 15 years AFTER the fact!), the circumstantial evidence seems to strongly suggest George W. Bush is a Muzz-Symp saboteur of America and our sovereignty.

Indeed: "WHAT DID DUBYA KNOW, AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT?"

indeed

i did not consider Bush the worst President (Carter far ahead in that department).... but Bush did screw up on foreign policy...protecting the Saudi 9/11 attacks on USA....and then not phasing down our presence in Iraq after successfully getting rid of the dictator there...a couple of good defense bases there to protect our regional interests yes.........but trying to make Iraq into a western=style parliamentary democracy....ridiculous. Probably impossible. That can only be done by the people themselves over many years or even centuries of sociological and cultural development, it cannot be imposed at least not on a Moslem country of all places!

Those lips have to alternate between a Saudi Royal and a Mexican illegal.

Wasn't W's approval somewhere around 30% when he left office? You'd think that someone who failed so miserably as President would at least have the grace to keep quiet during an election.

Worst President in the last half-century? No. Obama and Carter have him beat. Worst Republican President? Most likely yes.

Oh, onyx, I am disappointed as you are in George W. Bush.

Trump, God bless him, helped to expose the globalist nature of the Bush/Clinton alliance that goes back to the early 1980s.

Now, we realize how we were duped.

The whole GOP played us for dopes for over 25 years as we struggled to get our nation on the right course.

What no one can take away from us is that we were true to America and still are.

We are patriots and the GOP-E are scum.

And Trump will be their worst nightmare.

Hope you and Louie are home in SD, safe and sound.

One decision Bush made after 9/11 stands out to me: backing off his promise to go after those who did it, which turned out to be state sponsors of terror Iran and Saudi Arabia. He started the language of "Islam is a religion of peace", and he refused to attack Iran which would have been the most important signal of resolve we could send to barbarians everywhere. Trump does not retreat from plain speaking as Bush did. Do you remember Laura telling her husband to tone it down after his impromptu speech via megaphone in the rubble of our skyscrapers? That was inspiring, but his advisers and his own nature backed it down. I was for the war on Iraq as a beginning to finish off Iran. Which now can only be accomplished by Israel, if it is even possible.

we largely agree. Bush did well to depose Hussein ... but after that he dropped the ball, let himself get needlessly bogged down in Iraq, and seemed to go back into his Saudi-serving dhimmitude

a real disappointment from someone who was given the opportunity to do so much good (and get it done fairly quickly too)

looked sold out, like obviously Hilliary is
