What is or may be happening here (assuming you mean here on FR) is without question “being affected by media spin” and is predictable. Hell, if you haven’t felt discouraged by the events of the past few days, you’re probably not paying attention. I’ll readily confess to it myself. I’ll readily confess that when Trump lets out some zinger, I am repeatedly thinking “why doesn’t this guy for once shut his freaking mouth?”

But for some balance:

First, we know the media does this. And they will conduct a teenage girls @ Bieber concert rush all to one side of the boat (mixing metaphors badly, sorry) trying to outgun themselves crapping all over Trump. So there is nothing unexpected here.

Let us also stipulate that if you wanna develop a building in NYC, this is possibly a 5-9 year process of acquiring properties and entitlements (term is used in a different way than “welfare”, in its commercial real estate meaning) and a 24 or 48 hour news cycle in short attention span theater is not only nothing, it is less than nothing.

History has shown that Trump has gotten over all of this dirtbomb-throwing.

It’s possible that one time, on one of these, he will give in and quit. That is not under your or my control and yeah, it would have the horrific effect of electing Hillary. Look, here election was preordained regardless of Repub opponent.

Just step back from the whirling blades. I am no more prescient than you or anyone else, all I or anyone can do is to imagine how very delicious it would be to defeat HRC. As far as I am concerned, a non trivial piece of America died the day she was let off for her blatant lying. Should she be elected, plenty more will die. Other than everything, what’s left to lose?

It is not just “being affected by media spin.” It is the significant degradation of intellect in the discussion. It is as if I was transported from a group of folks that could hold a serious debate even where they disagreed to a bunch of third graders that think calling someone a name is the peak of argument.

I look at the exaggerations and flat-out lies about perceived enemies. The “he’s dead to me” based on a false headline.

This current thread is a great example. The GOP leadership would be negligent if they haven’t reviewed the process if Trump drops out. That doesn’t mean they are taking active steps to kick him out. But some of the replies here are taking several steps extrapolating the actual situation and turning it into something approaching treason.

Maybe I’m just not used to these “New York” values. If that’s what it is. But it sure seems coarser around here lately.

Thanks for your response.
