But other people who are constitutionalists believe that checks and balances and separation of powers implemented by elected representatives of the people who value those principles are still what the Founders established, not vigilantism.

I am quite familiar with their theory(s) of governance. They made some mistakes but mostly their system worked for a long time.

Unfortunately lesser minds and self-interested minds tampered with what they created, and now what we have does not work, and only has a facade of their original system.

The checks and balances have been destroyed by power blocks and foolishness. Our finances are a wreck, and the math to balance them simply does not work for any reasonable projection.

Your suggestion that we have anything like our originally constituted government, makes as much sense as talking about "Brigadoon."

Our past system is now a fantasy, and it doesn't look like there is any way that it can be brought back short of massive upheaval.

The founding fathers were not speaking allegorically when they stated that liberty is preserved like a tree with the blood of patriot revolutionaries.
Our peace and safety culture does not have the stomach for what it takes to maintain liberty.

Our government is not afraid of the people!
The government should be terrified of its people for that is the basis of maintaining freedom and liberty. Right now our government is afraid of running out of people to dominate and control through fear.
