I eat a LOT of chicken but 2-3 times a month I’ll get a burger and add a baked potato

Here in the East, Carl’s operates as “Hardees”.

Their Angus “Thickburgers” - the base version without the extra toppings - are actually pretty darn good - easily better tasting than “upscale” burgers from FiveGuys, Smashburgers, etc

When Carl was in charge Carl's Jr burgers were the best of the big chains. They were really char-broiled and tasted that way.

Now that he's dead and gone and they are spending so much on advertising, the product is worse.

They don't really char broil them anymore and their hamburgers are rubbery. If I do get a big chain burger it is usually at Wendy's which are juicy or Burger King which does a better job at faking a char broil (probably some nasty chemicals involved but so what).

The Habit is a good middleground: Great taste at a reasonable cost.

When I want a real treat I go to The Counter, the Mecca of burgerdom.

Nope. Hardees is an independent chain that originated in North Carolina.

I think Five Guy's certainly gives Hardees a run for their money.
