I understand exactly. I don’t see it as much of an issue about religion (as you have stated, it is a political system) but more about the rights of citizens under the auspices of the Constitution.
I appreciate the “enemies foreign and domestic” angle, but...if we go that way, it can’t stop at Islam, it has to encompass liberalism as well.
Of course, they would see much the same loophole in their actions against us, then we have full-out Civil War and an end to the Republic.
Probably where this country is going in any case. Never thought I would even be thinking this in my lifetime, but here we are.
