During WWII in anticipation of the casualties that would mount with an invasion of Japan, FDR had a couple million Purple Hearts manufactured. But the atom bombs negated need for invasion, and the US has been trying to work off the stockpile of PHs ever since. It makes you wonder how elastic the definition of ‘wounded in action’ has become.
Well, we KNOW that John Effing Kerry did not receive his Purple Hearts as a result of enemy actions!
All three of them were “manufactured” due to Kerry’s ineptness!
And, he wrote the citations himself!
