I went to prep school with a decent number of Iranians during the late ‘80s/early ‘80s. We had a number of Iranians there (they seemed to prefer to be called Persians). Most of them were worthless, a couple were proper, with an aristocratic bearing. But most of them were high on Hashish, did no school work and negative class participation. There were a couple of girls. They were pretty, stylish, liked stuff, seemed to stay away from drugs, comparatively westernized.
The ill-behaved boys REALLY picked on the black students, including one who was intelligent, charismatic, earnest, hard-working and on his way to Georgetown. He was a boarding student, and they painted “nigger” on his door, and generally gave him a hard time (1981). Just before graduation, he had a brother or a friend, I don’t remember which, and did a number on the main culprit with a baseball bat and fled to New Hampshire, turning himself in a couple of days later.
None of these guys prayed five times a day, didn’t observe Ramadan or any of that stuff, and didn’t seem particular as to what was served in the cafeteria. But they identified is Muslim. They were ill behaved boors, had no problem with drugs and general bad behavior; they were, as far as I know, Muslims in good standing.
Who is she really, really, really close to?
What would happen at a critical juncture if a sitting president was murdered?
Or at that critical moment a bomb, or a fountain pen full of nerve gas, takes out the president and the Joint Chiefs?
