I never connected it with possible illness before, but I have noticed and wondered about the slow, deliberate nodding she often does while listening to other speakers. I'm reminded of how the actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's, used to hold a pen in his affected hand to make his small, uncontrollable movements seem purposeful.
