A very common side effect is coughing fits. I've been on it for years. I haven't experienced that possible side effect. I must be one of the lucky ones.

My mom coughed constantly while on it-had to switch meds.

You are. Lisinopril has worked great for me but it does cause me to cough usually precipitated when I speak.
