I saw a woman on Fox who, in post speech analysis, talked about how great the speech and how she would always remember Hilliary’s most memorable line: “America is great because America is good.” No one bothered to tell her that was a quote attributed (plagiarized?)to Alexis de Tocqueville.

This reminds me of a funny (true) story.

Several years ago we went to the high school graduation of a relative in rural Kentucky.

The gym had no air conditioning and it was incredibly hot. The principal and teacher’s introductions were boring. They promised us that we would be impressed with the creativity and wisdom that the valedictorian was about to offer.

Now the valedictorian took to the stage and began her speech. The gym is silent as everyone wants to hear every word. About two minutes into the speech I whispered in my wife’s ear “Omigod, that is Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If”. My wife gives me a dirty look and says “Shhhhh—don’t say a word.”

How many people in the audience knew what had happened?—I sure wasn’t going to tell them.
