“Khan was one of 14 American Muslims who died serving the United States in the ten years after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.”

Yeah, that jumped out at me too. According to the Census Bureau Muslims make up 0.9% of Americans. We lost around 6350 service men in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2002 and 2011, the ten year period after 9/11. So multiply 6350 by .009 and you end up with 57.

If Muslims had been represented by proportion in our military and their service had been reflected with the same proportion of combat deaths, then I would assume 50 to 60 Muslims would have died serving in the military during that timeframe. But it appears that it is about a quarter of what would be expected.

Way to advertise that, DNC!

What jumps out at me is the terrorist attack at Ft. Hood. One Muslim murders 13 people, including 1 unborn child.
