Flying used to be a luxury only the rich could afford. Advances in the airline industry making travel more efficient and affordable have expanded the mobility of hundreds of millions of Americans.
But a decision by the Environmental Protection Agency is likely to take air travel backward.
The EPA on Monday released a final endangerment finding that greenhouse gases from large commercial aircraft cause climate change and endanger Americans health and the environment.
It comes as no surprise that the Obama administration would reach to the skies and add airplanes to the list of its regulatory targets. The administration has been eager to regulate as many sources of greenhouse gas emissions as possibleincluding cars, trucks, gasoline, and power plants, among others.

It was the Right of Departure that was the last defense of the downtrodden serf against his oppressors.
Someone should inform Obama and his EPA that travelers do pay for things like hotels, resorts, rental cars, restaurants, tour guides and numerous other travel services...services that PAY salaries of people on the lower end of the economic scale. Services that in many cases, are already heavily taxed. This ilk just do not understand economics, nor how to really take the reigns off a struggling economy, do they?
Low flush (or whatever the official name is) toilets have been mandated for years.
Maybe after November we can start getting rid of this climate change bull$hit.
Can anyone point to an EPA rule that requires you to pay less, didn’t think so.
Seating is also inefficient and un-green. They should all be removed and handles hung from the ceiling. This will allow at least double the passengers and it was already done successfully in Soviet Russia so we know it will work (they were ahead of their time).
Also I don’t believe passengers are humiliated enough before boarding. This can be helped by requiring all passengers to be weighed before boarding, so as to better distribute the bulk.

There has been numerous studies that show areas surrounding major airports have the same pollution levels as areas 30, 40, 50+ miles away from the airports.
