Until I hit 40 yrs. old, I stayed at around 118 lbs.,
I’ll be 70 in a few days, July 29th. After 40, weight
crept up & with the addition of BP drugs that cause fluid
retention; I crept up until I’m now 180 lbs. (I’d try
some other meds, but have been there, done that & now have
a formula of multiple pills that “work” at least to some
degree.
I used to be able to eat like a pig and never gain an
ounce. Now, I just wear muu-muus and eat. If I don’t, I
get weak and collapse & can’t have that. Fang has had a
LOT of major surgeries over the years, starting when he
was about 40. (In fact, I think he got sort of addicted to
surgeries in a way; but the last one like to took him on
out of this mortal coil. He DID die on the table in the
last one; but the doctor managed to get his heart beating
finally. (He didn’t have any visions or anything; but I
told him, “No more surgeries!” - and his surgeon told him
the same thing. -
His first surgeon operated on him NUMEROUS times before
the surgeon finally retired and the others in practice with
him REFUSED to allow him to order up surgeries any more.
So, it is a thing one just takes a day at a time; but I’m
not able to go through any more month long recovery
periods or sleeping in a chair in his hospital room.
For better or worse, almost 53 yrs. married to this man.

Congratulations on your long marriage, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Friday! Hope you get a great birthday cake. I think every person should have a birthday cake, would even bake one for myself all the years the kids were young and I was a single parent. Carrot cake is my favorite.
I know what you mean about “addicted to surgeries”... Have seen people with that, and many of the doctors are more than willing to promote the habit.
