Ms. Longoria was born in 1975. Texas became part of the United States in 1845. So Texas had been "American" for 130 years when Ms. Longoria was born. That means that every generation -- from 1845 to 1975 -- leading up to Ms. Longoria lasted a little over 14 years.
I suspect Ms. Longoria is making something up. Perhaps her family did not live in Texas in 1845 and became Americans earlier than that. Maybe Ms. Longoria is less than 9th generation American. But I rather doubt that the 14 years per generation statement made by Ms. Longoria is accurate.
Math is hard.
