The numbers are encouraging, but there is no way Trump will win 70% or more of the overall white vote. That’s not really a knock on Trump, as no Republican could pull that off. I believe the record is Nixon in 1972 when he won 67%, and after that Reagan in 1984 with 64%.

Winning 70% of whites overall should be within reach for the GOP considering how the Democrats champion explicitly anti-white policies like racial preferences and disparate impact. But there are too many self-loathing, guilt-ridden white liberals, plus those whites you speak of who are conservative on social issues, immigration, and trade, but who have been put off by the donor-class ownership of the GOP. And then we also have the more ‘moderate’ suburban type of white, who we are told are put off by appeals to poor and working class whites. That doesn’t need to be the case, but the media will sure do its part to equate any Republican outreach to poor and working class whites based around immigration, crime, etc, is seen the darkest light possible.

I agree that Trump won’t get 70%, but 65% is easily within his reach. Just the numbers from this poll put him at about 61%-62% of the white vote (when normalized to 100%).

At 65% of the overall white vote, he just needs to pluck off a relative handful of Hispanics and blacks to get over the top. Anything more, even Romney’s bad Hispanic/black numbers, means a landslide.

And don’t forget - most of that 65% of the vote is concentrated in very critical states (i.e., PA and Rust Belt). The states with the really high minority counts, CA, TX and NY won’t matter for Trump - they’re already decided (except, maybe, in a landslide win).

After 7 1/2 years of the worst presidency and overreach of presidential powers in history you'd have to braindead to want more of the same from another tyrant. The details of his dirty deeds of destruction would fill books.
