1. It was 1941 when the Germans invaded.
2. They damned near won the thing because they caught the Soviets absolutely napping, and Stalin had murdered about 2/3 of his generals in a series of purges, so even when they started fighting back it was very ineffective.
3. If the Germans try to invade Russia, or even Poland, much of Germany will resemble the Moon starting about 1/2 hour later...and EVERYONE knows it and understands why (the Russians have about 26 million reasons for this). Germany is NOT going to invade Russia.
Putting aside this ridiculous claim for a moment; the nostrum of Russian Military superiority is a fantasy beyond hysterical and worthy of a sit-com.
From Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden in the 17th century till Afghanistan in 1989; some 400 years; the performance of Russia on the battlefield has been comprised of 1 part incompetence, 1 part stupidity and 1 part delusion. And they have a succession of catastrophic defeats to prove this.
1. Exactly my point. Perhaps today is 1933, in terms of preparation.
2. The Soviets were not napping. Stalin knew they were coming. He chose to do nothing.

Both sides were preparing for war. Some argue they were ready to invade Germany when Hitler moved first.

3. I don’t believe Germany is going to invade Russia either. I was simply replying to the poster who wrote that Germany doesn’t have the military to invade. They didn’t in 1933 either, probably not in 1936. By 1941 they did, but they bit off more than they could chew even then.
