Some U.S. officers in Baghdad believe the Obama administration is rushing plans for a Mosul offensive so it takes place before the November presidential election, a retired general says.
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael D. Barbero said his contacts in Baghdad have relayed the concerns to him, fearing there is now an artificial timeline for what promises to be by far the toughest battle in the war against the Islamic State in Iraq.

Well, this was predictable.
MOAB it a few times and call it “done.”
Just drop a 10 mt warhead and call it good.
It is obvious that Odungo doesn’t give a fig about our troops. They only represent political pawns to him, the treasonous louse.
Obama said he had a plan to have us out of Iraq in 2008.
He’s already influenced the election. He’s been influencing it for the last 7 1/2 years, That’s why his party is going to lose.
Sounds like a long, drawn-out Extortion 17. Any Chinook helicopters involved?
I’m not aware of any eight year enlistments. Anyone who stayed in only had wishful thinking to rely on. I’ve made big boo boos myself, so wishing for the best for all.
The Dems told us ten years ago that it was possible to support the troops while opposing their mission. Maybe everybody will call in sick when the Hillary Offensive steps off.
Prayers up for those still serving.
How many more days left before this so-and-so is out of office?
There are about 180 days left. Lazamataz runs a daily countdown.
Hussein again, leading from behind.
Julian Assange beat him to the questionable notoriety of influencing an election.
A heavily armed platoon of mixed Services troops needs to walk into the Oval Office and arrest his ass. A one way ticket to a long vacation in Guantanamo for him and all his top minions. Who cares what anybody thinks. Just do it. For God and Country
From the article:
1). The U.S.-led Operation Inherent Resolve has three main pillars: train and advise the Iraqi Security Forces, supply weapons, and conduct airstrikes and surveillance.
2). Mr. Scales, a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran, said Iraq will need a force of about 50,000, far more than used in previous urban battles and a number that will stretch the Iraqi Security Forces and associated fighters to their limits.
3). The attacker will need copious amounts of very heavy firepower 1,000- and 2,000-pound bombs, he said. It will have to be methodical, and the Iraqis will be under pressure to kill ISIS and not kill the innocents.
4) The troops face the monumental task of capturing a city of almost 2 million citizens and up to 10,000 Islamic State fighters and their booby traps.
This admin has been in over its head and its ROE, the firing and forced retirement of some of the best military leaders has put such a burden in our military personnel. May God keep them safe. I feel terrible for those who have to serve under this admin.
