The Talk Shows
July 24th, 2016
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Joel Benenson, chief strategist for Hillary Clinton.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Donald J. Trump; Bernie Sanders.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): President Barack Obama (taped).
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sen. Bernie Sanders. I-Vt.; Robby Mook, campaign manager for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton; Paul Manafort, campaign chairman for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Mook; Donald Trump Jr., son of the Republican presidential candidate.
JMHO, the whole bunch (DNC, MSM and probably GOPe/NeverTrumpers) sees this as just the first shot across their bow with far, far more damaging stuff yet to come, they are in a blind, flailing panic and that fluff is the best they could deliver.
...can you even imagine anyone trying to get a Focus Group together to find a touchy feeley response after you've nuked yourself like this?
It's getting to the point that every talking point you hear out of them has turned into a punch line for a lame joke.
Hillary with that vacuum cleaner look! Just too good!I guess she either wears the curtains, show curtains or the rug. Not much choice. There’s a lot to cover there.!
Like minds,I see the washerwoman going down to try and keep Bernies mob from going nuts.If there is more, wow I cant review whats out there now.!
WHory Howie now on FNC showing how CNN cant get over Melania’s speech and the similarities between that and the big mooch.Talk about desperate, these guys have to get something on the Trump convention I guess they will settle for most anything.I doubt she knew who wrote it or where it came from,a lot to do about nothing.
The Shah was meeting with our Ambassador, Bill Sullivan, at 3 AM in the mornings trying to make a decision. He felt betrayed by us and rightfully so. Khomeini hijacked the Revolution and started killing off the opposition.
Iran was a very liberal place when I first arrived in July 1977. You could buy Playboy at the newsstand. Women were in Western dress; alcohol was served in restaurants and bars; Iran had more students in US universities than any other country, over 50,000 and there were more women in the Iranian Parliament than in the US Congress. Israel had a trade mission in Tehran. That all changed overnight when Khomeini returned from exile in France.
In terms of numbers, Tehran was our largest Embassy in the world with more than a 1,000 US employees including the military mission. We lost significant intelligence assets monitoring the Soviet nuclear program across the Caspian. It was a huge loss to the intelligence communityy,
The Shah was corrupt, but we and the Iranian people would be far better off today if the Iranian Revolution had not succeeded.
Will hosted Obama at his house to meet with “conservative” journalists. Will has jumped the shark.
Great points!Looks like ol’ Bernies’ objective was just advancing socialism into communism and getting it main-streamed.Good luck with that, everywhere it’s been tried it fails.
My error, it was David Brinkley, not Chet Huntyley who said that.
‘Any time, money and effort whining about them is counter productive.’
Your Trump hate occludes your perception. Trump has said in so many words that besting Hillary is the priority. But he was asked what the future might hold for Cruz and Kasich, and he gave a short, straightforward answer. Whining is the mirror opposite of what he did. Your mischaracterization is egregious.
Actually, there is some science behind this. It's called the "Monster Vote" and was studied and learned about by the NYT who promptly put it on page 98 so no one else would see it.
Focusing attacks to be on Hillary hardly aids her.
Good night Chet,good night David.
I'll never forget.
Great stuff.
Ironically, we had a small chance a few years ago when the forces of light surfaced in Iran if for only a moment Obama quickly turned his back.Just shows what a bad potus can do when the wrong person is elected over and over.
In my opinion, a better answer would have been: "Cruz and Kasich are irrelevant. What the future holds for Hillary is..........."
Unfortunately, Trump is never going to say or do everything we want him to.If Melania, his kids and Manafort can’t get him to we will just have to get used to his Trumpisms.
We were overrun on February 14, 1979 and taken hostage for a few hours. We had over 10,000 people outside shooting up the compound including the Chancery. I was holed up with many others, including the Ambassador, in the Communications vault. We eventually surrendered and were subsequently released in the parking lot after some negotiations.
Our compound was occupied by the Mujahideen and Fedayeen. Everyday they were looting our compound, shooting over our heads, or pointing guns at us. The remaining 17 Marine Guards were disarmed and stood their posts without weapons. We were all humiliated daily. And stray shots came into the compound on a regular basis. I felt in more danger than when I served in Vietnam during Tet.
I could tell you many stories. I am no fan of Jimmy Carter. We all knew that the Embassy would be overrun again.
I saw the “Thank My Staff” session. Trump was just joking in his way. Trump was mulling Cruz’s behavior and then said if Cruz runs for POTUS in 2020, he, Trump MAY start a Super Pac against Cruz. Kasich was never even mentioned. This Thank My Staff Session took place Friday morning in Cleveland.
Or joking.
Melania was very effective. An immigrant with an accent supporting her husband. Someone who speaks five languages. And by the way, she is absolutely, stunningly beautiful. It must drive them nuts. They had to attack her some way, even it was just two paragraphs from her speech. The MSM helped the Dems make it the dominant story of the first day and they won’t let go of it.
