Clinton’s VP Pick
Dilbert.com ^ | 7/23/2016 | Scott Adams

Now add Tim Kaine to the mix. In our irrational minds – where we compare everything to our personal experience – Kaine will play the part of the beta male husband whose wife can’t stop complaining about her terrible co-worker, Donald Trump. No guy wants to hear eight years of that. They get enough of it at home.

My prediction is that Kaine will do nothing to improve Clinton’s standing with women. But the Clinton-Kaine ticket is a persuasion disaster in terms of the male vote. Male egos are probably already at a historical low point. Kaine puts a face to that movie. Will men vote to watch Hillary Clinton make Tim Kaine her Whitehouseboy for eight years?

And how many doors have you knocked on for Trump?

I get the bravado and bluster. Its a dual edged sword.

The reality away from our conservative “safe space” is a little different than the “landslide” meme. I see it and immerse myself in it every time I go door to door to bring home victory.

This is a fight. We might win. I think we have a better chance than any time since 2004. It is NOT in the bag.

Respectfully disagree with Scott on this one. The lying criminal needed to pick SOMEBODY to be her VP. She could have gone a number of ways. Kaine is not a “disaster”. He’s probably the best type of choice she could have made.

1) She picks a woman (Warren) - looks like a desperate pander and reinforces the idea that she has nothing to offer except wanting to be on a “historic” woman’s ticket

2) She picks a black or hispanic (Deval Patrick or Julian Castro) - looks like a desperate pander and reinforces idea that democrat party is just the “grievance” party of feminism, BLM, illegal immigration

3) She picks an white alpha male (does the democrat party even have these anymore?) - makes her look weak by comparison

4) She picks white beta male (Kaine) - makes her look strong by comparison, but also sensible since he does no real damage to the ticket and other than temporarily pissing off the lefties and Bernie-bots - who are going to cote for her anyway - it actually reassures some fence sitters (falsely in my opinion) that she is abandoning the grievances and gender politics and “moving to the middle”

Kaine also speaks Spanish pretty well, which means he can go on Univision and Telemundo and lie about how Trump is racist and whatnot. This could help turn out some latinos in Florida which is crucial for a GOP victory.

Kaine is a good pick for her.

My mother loved Kirby vacuum cleaners. We were poor as church mice, but she bought that Kirby. Lasted over 20 years, thankfully.

On an unrelated note, I really wish people would stop posting photos of the lying criminal. “Ha ha yes we get it it’s so funny she dresses like Mao Tse Tung.”

Look, she’s a lying criminal who committed multiple felonies and then lied to the American people numerous times. Anyone else would be in prison. Her husband is a rapist. These “memes” are not funny, they are tiresome and banal. What’s worse is she is likely to win the election, so we are going to have to look at that ugly face and listen to that screech for the next 4 or more probably 8 years.

Maybe I need a “safe space.” Every time I see her face I want to vomit.

None so far. It's summer. I'll knock on doors when it cools off and the Fall campaign kicks in.

Kaine is a safe generic Democrat with no apparent awful things in his background. Plus he was a decent governor. This makes him a fine vice-presidential nominee by any measure. Ditto Pence as a generic Republican, though Pence was actually one of the 3-4 best governors in the country in Indiana. This is normal politics.

The only unusual things here are Hillary's disastrous health, and Pence having been such a standout as a governor. Kaine is very well qualified to step as the Democrats' Presidential nominee if Hillary's health collapses before November, and as President if she somehow gets elected. I stand by my prediction last summer that the GOP nominee will win with @ 55% of the popular vote and carry 40+ states.

Pence having been such a successful governor means he is very well placed to succeed Trump as President in 2020. The guy is a pro and won't make mistakes. This too is normal.

I agree with GilGil that it is looking more like a Trump landslide this year. This is a Change election. The public visibly hates the status quo and wants a change. Hillary could not better represent more of the same thing. Trump could not better represent Change.

2016 primary results were pretty simple. Every vote for Trump, Sanders, Cruz and Ben Carson counts as a "I wanna change in the status quo" column. Each of those four candidtes absolutely, unmistakeably, offered and represented a major change in the status quo. ANYONE who voted for any of those four did so because they wanted major changes in the way the country is run.

And together they got 55% of all the primary votes.

The 2016 Presidential race is all about Change. Hillary represents more of the same. Trump offers change.

You want poll results or actual results?

In 2008 there were 38,111,341 Democrat votes in the primary.

In 2016 there were 28,269,195. A net decrease of 9,842,146 (-29%)

In 2012 there were 19,214,513 Republican votes in primary.

In 2016 there were 30,261,999. A net increase of 11,047,486 (+57%)

You are dealing with people who say when I see it, I’ll believe it. They are not winners just losers. They will never amount to much.

Trump on the other hand has a bold vision and he creates it. He has done that over and over again throughout his life. That is the mark on a true champion and a winner.

Totally agree.

Sundance did a forecast that based on the primaries 73 million would show up to vote for Trump.

In 2008 Obama got 69 million voted.

In 2012 Obama got 66 million votes.

Primary votes were down 20% for the democrats.

Hillary will probably get in the low 60’s in the million for votes.

Your projection of 55% for Trump is very likely.

By October, it will look as if Trump is running unopposed.

I happen to be one of those Arizonans who is not phased by the heat of summer. It is almost 11:00 am here and I am going hiking for about 90 minutes. The weather forecast is for 113 degree weather.

Unfortunately, voters here are more wimpy so we will have to wait till end of September to close the deal.
